Chapter Receives Philanthropic Award

On Saturday, December 1st, 2012, the National Charity League, Inc. Carolina Lily Chapter was honored by the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill for "Outstanding Continuous Support" and presented with the House Foundation Award.  Carolina Lily chapter members have provided countless dinners for RMH of Chapel Hill, often picking up last-minute openings. Andrea Barry, chapter president & Alena Hammond, liaison, attend the breakfast and received the award on behalf of our chapter.

Philanthropy Numbers for 2012-2013 Year!

Our philanthropy numbers have been compiled for the 2012-2013 year.
Carolina Lily chapter served a total of 5,300 hours which is amazing! That is more than double what was served the previous year.  We made 23,640 cookies for the USO and Brown Bag Ministries, 1,000 stockings for military children, donated 1,391 books and 11,700 poptops for Ronald McDonald House. Classes organized special collections for Brown Bag Ministries that they distributed in Moore Square to the homeless and hungry. Collections included 200 toiletry kits, 96 pairs of gloves, 89 blankets and 175 coats.  We are off to a good start this summer and anticipate even higher volunteer hours this year.
From April 1st through August 16th, 2013 the chapter has served 2,349 hours. The possibilities are endless with this group!

USO of North Carolina

Chapter Makes 1,624 Stockings for the USO!
Carolina Lily members have yet again exceeded expectations. This year, we set a goal of making 1,200 stockings for the USO. That would have been 200 more than last year. We were amazed when all the stockings were counted to learn that we had made a staggering 1,624 stockings! Those stockings are being distributed to military children at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, the NC National Guard Headquarters and the Holiday in the Hangar party at the airport. We have the honor of distributing those stockings ourselves. Way to go Carolina Lily’s!

Ronald McDonald House

Deck the Halls at Ronald McDonald House a Success!

Thanks to the decorations donated by Garden Supply of Cary and the hard work of chapter members, Ronald McDonald House looks festive and is ready for the holidays. We had the opportunity to decorate the house on November, 23rd.  Cathy Hall, the Ronald McDonald House Volunteer Coordinator, sent a note saying “The House looks AMAZING!  You all did such a beautiful job.”

Our next project for Ronald McDonald House is underway. We will be renovating the playroom and teen room. The design team is beginning their work now and there will be opportunities for everyone to participate in this exciting project.

Thanks for all you do to support our partner philanthropies!!
